The style was formed as a counter style to the many hyper-girly fashion styles that were popular at the time. There are so many other factors to consider, such as accessories, hair, makeup, shoes, shop lists, art, and overall lifestyle.Mori girl is a J-Fashion style created in 2007. Layer, layer, layer! It’s very important! In addition to the natural look, a Mori Girl always layers. This includes floral patterns, stripes, polka dots, animal prints, vintage prints, and ombre colors, though really any pattern can have the Mori girl vibe. Instead of solid colors, fabric choices can be prints as well. Other colors can also be worn, such as soft pink, white, and even black, though black should be worn sparingly (unless wearing the Dark Mori style, which I will address in a later post). The main colors a Mori girl wears are earth tones. Linen, crochet, lace, knit, and fur are ideal choices. To dress in this style, one must also consider fabric choice. Mori Girls prefer quirky, comfortable clothing to flashy clothing. Mori Girls don’t wear revealing clothing, so they shy away from tight or form fitting clothes, low cut tops, short skirts and shorts, that sort of thing. Whew! With that said…Īs the name implies, it is a very natural style, meant to look like the wearer lives in the forest. Please keep in mind that there really are no actual rules, just general guidelines, and that what I am describing is a Mori Girl archetype based on my interpretations of the style. ![]() It is said that there are up to 60 different Mori Girl styles, from Dark Mori to those who wear all white. Instead, they prefer to dress for themselves, opting for comfortable and classic clothing. Mori Girls do not dress to attract attention from others. The Mori Girl look is very soft and natural. The ultimate goal of a Mori girl goal is to look like a girl who lives in the forest. So, Mori Kei means Forest Style, and a Mori Girl dresses in this style!Ī Mori Girl typically has a long silhouette and wears many layers of clothing. In Japanese, “mori” means “forest” and “kei” means “style”. Mori Kei started in 2007 as a Japanese subculture, and has grown to be fairly popular. Grosbeaks, chickadees, cardinals,… I love searching for images online and looking outside my window to study these birds, and then to paint them – oh, it is so relaxing! So, that is how some of my time is being spent – relaxing, finding “me” time, and painting birds. Since I live in northern Minnesota, I am painting birds indigenous to the area. I have taken to painting birds on wood rounds. It is summer, my schedule has opened up, and these articles are speaking to me. I was just raised to work hard, and I have a hard time saying no when something is asked of me, so naturally I usually have a lot on my plate. I don’t know if I brag about it – I don’t think so. I admit, I am the type who is always busy. I have read a few articles recently about how it has become a ‘thing’ to be busy, how some people brag about how busy they are, and the importance of finding time for ourselves. I’m sorry I haven’t posted in almost a month! Life was hectic.
